A man was shot in the leg after he told officers as many as four people entered his residence late Thursday night.

The victim was treated and released following the shooting, which Roanoke Rapids police responded to around 11:30 p.m., Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement.

The matter occurred in the 100 block of Charles Circle in the Southgate community, Hasty said.

The call came in as a disturbance with shots fired.

Officers found the victim was shot in the lower leg.

The victim told officers three to four people entered the residence, fired several shots and left.

Hasty said there are no further suspect descriptions at this time. “It’s all under investigation. We’re trying to determine what really happened.”
