Sheriff's office receives reports of campaign sign thefts

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of campaign sign theft.

He declined to say which candidate the signs belonged to, including whether they were his own.

“Campaign signs are the personal property of the candidate even when placed in someone’s yard,” he said. “If an individual or individuals are caught stealing a campaign sign, they could be charged with larceny.”

Anyone with information about campaign sign theft is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
