A Roanoke Rapids man who has pending court dates in two other counties was arrested Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a vehicle in the 300 block of Roanoke Avenue.

Police responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. about a vehicle being broken into and items taken from it, police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement.

When officers M. Worrell and R. Cross responded, they heard and observed an altercation in the 100 block of the avenue.

The officers learned citizens had detained the man, identified as Terrence Jamal Robinson, 22.

It was not clear whether they were the victims, Hasty said this morning.

After breaking the scuffle up, Robinson fled but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

He faces charges of breaking/entering a motor vehicle, larceny, possession of stolen goods, and resisting/delaying/obstructing.

He was served with outstanding orders for arrest from Sampson and Onslow counties.

He faces a charge of misdemeanor assault on a female from Sampson and felony probation violation from Onslow.

He received a $ 15,500 bond and has an April 4 court date.

Lieutenant P. Parks, Sergeant T. Tyler and Master Officer A. Salmon assisted.
