The banquet is held each year when there are any Halifax County Schools faculty or staff who are retiring.

It is organized by the Human Resources Department, and the district's central services team, and is open to the retirees and their families, members of the district’s administration, and members of the school board.

Superintendent Eric Cunningham said, “Thank you to our retirees for your years of service to the students and families of Halifax County Schools. You have inspired greatness in the lives of hundreds of children. We appreciate your dedication, service, and commitment to our district. I wish you all a joyful and relaxing retirement. Congratulations, you earned it.”

During the luncheon, Halifax County Schools provided the opportunity to share memories and well wishes, and each retiree was provided a plaque and flowers.
