As we step into the week after Thanksgiving, I hope our Roanoke Rapids community enjoyed a holiday filled with delicious food, cherished moments, and quality time with loved ones.

The Thanksgiving season offers an important opportunity to reflect on all we have to be grateful for, and here in Roanoke Rapids Graded School District, I am reminded daily of how blessed we are.

Our RRGSD team is second to none, and I am continually inspired by their dedication to our students and families.

While I’ve often shared my gratitude for our teachers — whose hard work and commitment form the backbone of our schools — this week, I want to highlight the incredible contributions of our support staff and administrators.

They are essential to creating the safe, welcoming, and productive environments in which our students and teachers thrive.

And, of course, I am most thankful for our students.

From our curious pre-kindergarten learners to our innovative seniors, they bring energy, creativity, and joy to all of us in RRGSD.

This Thanksgiving, I want to spotlight and celebrate the outstanding leadership of our district administrators.

Their tireless efforts to lead with respect, honesty, kindness, and a focus on student success make RRGSD a special place.

These leaders work closely with our Board of Trustees and me, to execute Vision 2035, a direction that keeps us focused on excellence, collaboration, and student-first decisions.

Here’s a snapshot of the incredible work they do:

Andrea Midgette, Chief Financial Officer, oversees our district’s finances with care and precision, ensuring that every dollar is used to support student learning and success.

Lauren Hinnant, Executive Director of Instructional Services, works diligently to ensure our educators have the tools, resources, and support they need to deliver high-quality instruction to every student.

Felicia Few, Executive Director of CTE (Career and Technical Education), Testing, and Accountability, focuses on vocational education, student assessment, and achievement, ensuring that we continuously evaluate and improve our practices to meet the needs of every learner.

David Cooke, Chief Technology Officer, leads the charge in providing cutting-edge technology and infrastructure that keeps our classrooms connected and innovative.

Tracy Kidd, Director of Human Resources, plays a vital role in building and supporting a team of exceptional educators and staff who make a difference in our students’ lives every day.

Sara Council, Director of Student Services, plays a crucial role in addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our students, ensuring that every learner has the support to succeed.

Robbie Clements, Director of Facilities and Operations, ensures that our buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and ready to support teaching and learning every day and that our transportation and other operations are effective and efficient in getting our students to and from school and safe while here.

Krissy Martin, Director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) and Exceptional Children, advocates passionately for our students with unique needs, ensuring they have access to the resources and support required to thrive, as well as for our staff who support the students as they grow and learn.

Janina Pericak, Director of School Nutrition and Place to Play, ensures that our students are

well-nourished and ready to learn while also creating engaging and healthy spaces for activity and connection.

Mandy Clark, Public and Student Information Officer, keeps our community informed, engaged, and connected to the achievements and initiatives of our district through thoughtful communication and outreach and oversees all student data to improve student, teacher, and family communication.

These leaders, along with our entire RRGSD staff, inspire me daily with their unwavering commitment to our students and community. I am truly blessed to lead such an amazing staff of educators and am truly privileged to get to work with them to educate such wonderful children. This season of Thanksgiving, I hope you’ll join me in showing them our appreciation for all they do.
