James Edwin Britt, 89, of Murfreesboro, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 3, 1930 to Claudie and Bernice Johnson Britt in Northampton County. James worked for many years at Georgia Pacific. James loved his family very much. James loved his church and was a very active member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church. He also served as the Treasurer for the Murfreesboro Lions Club for many years. James was an avid gardener and enjoyed going camping. He also loved fishing and trips to the beach. James was also a fan of UNC basketball.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Claudie Britt, Mother, Bernice Johnson Britt, Brother, Raymond Britt, Sister, Claudie Marie Dixon, Sister, Elizabeth Blowe, Brother, Jack Britt, Brother, Charles Britt.
James is survived by his wife Ethel, Son, James Edwin “Jimi” Britt Jr. and his wife Terry; Three Daughters, Julie Martin, and husband Roy of Murfreesboro, NC, Josie Howell and husband Mitchell of Willow Spring, NC, Jackie Barnes and husband O.C. of Seaboard, NC; Brother, Carl Russell Britt and wife Peggy of Milwaukee, NC; Two Sister-in-laws, Jewel Britt of Milwaukee, NC, Frances Britt of Milwaukee, NC; Three Grandsons, Matthew Martin and wife Jenna of Greensboro, NC, Andrew Martin and wife Courtney of Franklin, VA, Justin Vick and wife Erin of Raleigh, NC; Two Granddaughters, Aleah Howell of Durham, NC, Anna Howell of Willow Spring, NC; Three Great-granddaughters, Emma Grace Martin of Franklin, VA, Annabelle James Martin of Franklin, VA, Avery Vick of Raleigh, NC; Great-grandson, Everett Martin of Greensboro, NC; .
Visitation will be held Monday, February 10, 2020, 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm at Murfreesboro United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, NC.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Murfreesboro United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. Jason Villegas, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
