Roanoke Rapids fire Chief Jason Patrick introduced the city council Tuesday night to a new firefighter and announced two promotions within the department.

New hire

Chris Boykins, is the son of David and Kattie Boykins of Castalia and is a 2023 graduate of Southern Nash High School.  

He is a second-generation public servant, his father the deputy chief with the Nashville Police Department.

Boykins graduated from the Nash Community College Fire Academy December of 2023 and began working with the RRFD in April of 2023.  

He is currently serving at Station 1 on C shift working with Lieutenant Ramah Long.  

His girlfriend Shyanne Bryce placed the badge on his uniform.

Jacob Felhauer

Felhauer was promoted to driver-engineer and has been with the department for two years.

“He was in the first group of firefighters that we sent through the Nash Community College Fire Academy where he graduated in December 2022,” Patrick said.

Felhauer is currently assigned to Lieutenant Chad Turner at Station 2 on C shift.  

His girlfriend Emily Yeager placed the badge on his uniform.

Vincent Mollicone

Mollicone has been promoted to driver/engineer and has been with the city for five years.

He has served over 12 years with the town of Halifax Fire Department and serves as the RRFD’s small engine mechanic.

He is assigned to Fire Station 2 for Lieutenant Jonathan Woodall.

He and his wife Taylor, who placed the badge on his uniform, are parents to their children Grayson and Madison.
