The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking Lawrence Gregory Syms, 46, of Oakley Avenue.

Chief Shane Guyant said Syms is wanted for numerous warrants and orders for arrest.

Last Tuesday Sergeant J. Spragins took a report from a victim indicating their vehicle had been stolen from the 400 block of Hinson Street.

Syms was developed as the suspect and Spragins has obtained warrants for felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

Syms also has felony warrants that were obtained June 15 by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office for felony breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and felony larceny of motor vehicle parts.

Syms has relatives living in Halifax, Nash and Edgecombe counties and his last known address was the 900 block of Oakley Avenue. He has since abandoned the Roanoke Rapids residence.

He is a wanted probation absconder from Edgecombe County and has pending probation violation warrants.

Syms was last seen operating a stolen dark gray 2013 Hyundai Sonata.

It is believed that this vehicle is now displaying an unknown license tag.
