A Rich Square man and Conway man face charges related to the attempted theft of two four-wheelers Tuesday morning.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said Amarion Vinson, 20, of Rich Square and Wilson Timberlake, 19, of Conway, were caught after a three-hour search.

The search began after deputies responded to the Conway area off Ashley’s Grove Road shortly before 6:15 a.m. following a report of two suspicious men attempting to steal the vehicles.

The two men fled to a wooded area after they were confronted by a neighbor.

Multiple agencies responded to assist with the search.

After a three-hour search with the use of several canine units, drones, and law enforcement from several surrounding agencies, the men were located and arrested within a swampy wooded area, Jacobs said.

Sergeant A. Trenz charged Timberlake with two counts of felony attempted larceny, a count of misdemeanor larceny, a count of resisting a public officer, and a count of carrying a concealed gun. He received a $25,000 secured bond and July 11 district court date.

With the exception of the gun charge and misdemeanor larceny count, Vinson faces the same charges as Timberlake and received the same bond and court date.

Assisting the sheriff’s office were the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, North Carolina State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau, the Ahoskie Police Department, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Down East Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
