The 17th annual Juneteenth celebration will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Garysburg Town Center.

The event honors the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.

Organizers are looking for food trucks and vendors. Call 252-536-0101 for more information or to state interest.

There is no vendor fee this year. Food vendors participating in the celebration must obtain permits from the Northampton County Health Department.

The event will also play host to the annual Juneteenth Barbecue Cook-Off.

New this year will be the Tap In: Water Talk, a panel discussion regarding the condition of water and what can and should be done about it. Experts from regional and state agencies will be on hand.

For more information and updates, follow the Halifax/Northampton Counties Juneteenth page on Facebook.
