To shape a future powered by clean and affordable energy, the Center for Energy Education will host two summer camps for Halifax County area youth.
C4EE staff and local teachers, with help from C4EE’s high school interns, the Radiant Rays, will educate its community about clean energy on the center’s campus at 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids.
Community partners and special guests will also boost the camp experience for participants.
C4EE will host rising sixth through 12th graders for two, four-day summer camp sessions to be held Monday — Thursday, July 8-11 and July 15-18.

The no-cost camps run 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. daily.
The camps will feature Climate Action Conquerors, a curriculum that executes lessons and activities that demonstrate collective efforts to influence and change behaviors for improving the environment such as recycling and composting.
Daily programming will include hands-on indoor and outdoor activities that focus on STEM education and the role of renewable energy as an impactful, sustainable solution toward strong and healthy communities.
The center is partnering with the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District’s summer feeding program in which its nutrition staff will provide healthy meals to participants each day.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be delivered to the center so they have a range of healthy options.
“Our collaborative summer camps enhance our students’ educational journeys through stretching critical and creative thinking skills that expose them to STEM concepts and new technologies,” said Mozine Lowe, C4EE’s executive director. “Our summer camps also set the stage for potential educational and workforce pursuits upon graduation.”
