On April 12, the town that earned its title as the Birthplace of American Independence will embark on a journey through time.

From that day forward, a two-year-long celebration will unfold.

On April 12 through 14 the state historic site, the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and the town of Halifax will present Halifax Day and Prelude to Revolution.

The full schedule of events can be downloaded at this link and includes a map noting where the events are planned.

Living history, presentations, character portrayals, food vendors, and two musical events on the evening of April 12 are planned.

“Historic Halifax, with its footpaths and centuries-old buildings, stands as a living testament to the courage of those who once gathered here,” organizers said. “It was in this very place, on April 12, 1776, that the Halifax Resolves were adopted — an audacious call for complete independence from Great Britain. This document paved the way for America's Declaration of Independence and left an indelible mark on the nation's history.”
