As of Friday two of the district court seats for what will be Judicial District 7 in 2024 and two board of education races have become contested elections.

In the race for seat 3, Takiya Lewis Blalock and Thomas Earl Dixon will square off in the March 5 primary.

In the race for seat 4, Assata Kimbrough Buffaloe will face Jamal Summey.

In the race for the Halifax County Schools Board of Education Terri Silver and Heley Richardson have filed. None of the incumbents have filed as of this report.

In the race for the Weldon City Schools Board of Education incumbents Donna Harrison and O.D. Sykes have filed as well as newcomers Noah Davis, Regina Brooks and Jennifer Doby.

Filing ends at noon on Friday.
