An Emporia man was charged on fentanyl and paraphernalia counts following a stop in the Five Points area of Halifax County Tuesday afternoon.

Captain A.M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s said he was on patrol around 2 p.m. when he stopped a man identified as 53-year-old Larry Kenneth Hopson for a motor vehicle violation.

During the consent search Hopson dropped a homemade glass pipe from his hand and fentanyl was also seized. 

Hopson was charged with possession of schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

He received a $5,000 bond and May 18 county date.
