Prelude to Liberty was held at Historic Halifax today, an event which leads up to Tuesday’s commemoration of the 246th anniversary of the signing of the Halifax Resolves.

Events Tuesday begin at 10 a.m. and run through 4 p.m. The event is free of charge to the public.

The Historical Halifax Restoration Association will have their ceremony at 2 p.m. at the visitors center. North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Secretary Reid Wilson will be the guest speaker.

Several historic buildings will also be open for tours throughout the day.  

The Sons of the American Revolution will have their wreath-laying ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Colonial Courthouse site.
