Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy advanced certified Autism Specialist/EC teacher Srinivas Pannela has been nominated for the 2021-2022 National LifeChanger of the Year award.

Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

Pannela was nominated by Katrina Mills, a parent of a student, for going above and beyond for his students.

“He loves them as if they are his children, and goes so far as spending his time and finances to provide needed opportunities.” Mills said. “He works hard to keep parents and families involved in their children's education by communicating with them and planning events, outings, and meetings.”

Superintendent Eric Cunningham said, “We are proud of Mr. Pannela for being nominated for this award. Mr. Pannela goes above and beyond his job and is well-deserving of this recognition. The impact that he makes on our scholars is essential to empowering our students to become successful global residents.”

Principal Steve Hunter said, “Mr. Pannela is an exemplary teacher who excels in providing his students with essential life skills. I am extremely proud of Mr. Pannela because he exhibits qualities that are paramount in changing the lives of his students.”

Mills said, “I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Pannela for several years, as he has been the exceptional children's teacher for both of my sons, now 18 and 15, who are both on the Autism Spectrum. He does a phenomenal job with the children in his class. He makes them feel loved, important, and equal to everyone else at their school."
