A Roanoke Rapids man was charged on sex offenses Monday night, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement that around 9 p.m. a woman reported to the sheriff’s office she was sexually assaulted by a person with whom she was familiar. The man was identified as 19-year-old Robert Wyatt Lee Wilson Jr.

Hall said the victim told investigators she was at a residence on Highway 158 when the crime occurred.
After the assault, according to Hall, the victim left and checked in at Vidant North Hospital where Detective R. Marshall began an investigation.
That investigation led to charges of second-degree forcible rape and two counts of second-degree forcible sex offense.
Wilson received a November 17 court date before posting a $100,000 bond.
