Nine new positive cases of the novel coronavirus in Halifax County were added today by the health department.
This brings the total number of positive cases since last March to 5,016.

There have been 97 related deaths.
On Wednesday the health department reported the percent positives had dwindled to 4.1 percent after being as high as 17 percent.
Northampton County
The health department Wednesday reported there were 1,668 total positive cases of which 1,574 have recovered. There were 28 current cases. There have been 66 related deaths.
Vidant Health
The health system reported Wednesday more than 9,100 team members, providers and community health care workers have received the vaccine; more than 8,300 have received both doses, completing their vaccine series.
Since January 8, more than 45,500 doses of the vaccine have been administered to eligible community members.
Vidant’s system-wide census of hospitalized COVID-19 patients is 80. “It remains important for our community to help flatten the curve by continuing to practice important safety habits: Wear a mask, wash hands often, avoid gatherings and get vaccinated when eligible,” the health system said.
