A second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Halifax County.
Halifax County Public Health System Director Bruce Robistow said in a statement today the department continues to monitor the positive case while following CDC guidelines for the monitoring.
Robistow declined comment on where the patient is being treated.
As he did with the first reported case of the novel coronavirus Friday, he said he could not discuss demographics of the person who tested positive because of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. That includes questions on where the person is from, their age or current condition.
He said in a followup statement the second case does not appear to be related to the one reported Friday.
Robistow said in the statement health officials are currently following up with other people who might have been exposed to the person.
