The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has more stolen property to claim, this time property allegedly stolen by a 21-year-old Roanoke Rapids man spotted pedaling on a bicycle who was charged with larceny counts from motor vehicles.

Roanoke Rapids Police Officer Scott Blythe noticed Jessie Wayne Todd Taylor at Sixth and Marshall streets. A resident noticed him riding his bike in and out of yards in the Jefferson and Williams streets areas shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Captain Andy Jackson said further investigation revealed Taylor allegedly had several items with him, including a two-way radio with a leather holster — the kind emergency responders use — a black and gold Garcia fishing reel, several pocketknives, a white and silver iPod and a flashlight.

Detective Frankie Griffin Thursday night charged Taylor of 615 Jefferson Street with four counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, one count of larceny and one count of possession of stolen goods from thefts in the 700 block of Williams Street and the 900 block of Wilson Street.

Taylor was jailed on $5,000 bond and has an April 6 court date.

The property stolen also includes a Schrade Old Time knife, a .45-caliber Pachmayr gun clip, a Garmin GPS, Brunton binoculars, a iPod and a Garity LED flashlight.
