The man being sought for a murder in Greensville County Sunday night has been apprehended in North Carolina, the county sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The news release said Rodney Joel Zimmerman was arrested without incident and is awaiting extradition to Virginia. It did not say where he was arrested.
According to a press release, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from 5719 Dry Bread Road around 10:50 p.m.
The caller stated that two people had been shot.
Upon the deputies arrival, they found two gun shot victims.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was identified as Mary Jean Phillips of Emporia.
The other victim is hospitalized in critical condition.
The Greensville County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants for Zimmerman of 5719 Dry Bread Road for murder, attempted murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
