A robber passed a note to a teller this morning at Southern Bank and fled the building on East Tenth Street with an undisclosed amount of money.

Roanoke Rapids police Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said the robbery occurred around 9 a.m.

The suspect, a black male described as tall and skinny, wearing a trench coat and knit ski cap entered the bank and passed the note.

Entrances to the bank were sealed and Officer Chris Woodruff and his canine ran a track.

Detectives discovered footprints at the rear of the bank and were lifting the prints.
