A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Friday for sending threatening text messages to his coworkers at PCB.

Lieutenant George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Joe Puhak arrived at the business on Highway 903 shortly before 9 a.m. after receiving a call Michael Keith Starke, 55, of Orange Blossom Trail, allegedly came to work drunk and caused a disturbance.

Starke left before Puhak arrived and allegedly began sending threatening text messages.

While Puhak investigated at the business, Deputy Josh Clark went to Starke’s home and turned him over to Puhak, who charged him with cyber stalking and communicating threats.

Starke was also served an order for arrest for unrelated driving charges.

He was jailed on $3,000 bond and has a February 1 court date.
