A Roanoke Rapids woman faces numerous counts of forging and cashing checks stolen from a 63-year-old victim.
Her boyfriend was charged with three counts of forgery and uttering, Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said this morning.


Cynthia Wilson Bradley, 50, of 7 East Tenth Street, faces 27 counts of forgery and 25 counts of uttering a forged instrument. Charles Ray Harrison, 52, of Carl Street, was charged with the three counts.
Bradley was jailed on $15,000 bond and Harrison was jailed on $3,000 bond.
Jackson said investigation by Detective Charles Vaught revealed the checks were stolen from a man who Bradley had allegedly asked to borrow money from. The victim noticed the checks were missing on November 22 and he reported the crime December 2.
The woman apparently stole the checks when she asked for the money. The victim began noticing discrepancies in his checking account and the investigation revealed checks were made payable to Bradley.
The case file contains a letter from Bradley apologizing to the victim for what she did. A total of $1,918 worth of checks were written on the victim’s account.
The pair were arrested Tuesday.
