A 250th Commemoration event will be held at Longview, a historic home in Garysburg on Sunday, April 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

At 3 p.m. attorney Larry Armstrong will lead a discussion of the December 9, 1775 Battle of Great Bridge and the role of the Halifax Militia led by Colonel Nicolas Long, who later served as quartermaster general under George Washington.

The event includes access to the 1827 family home, which features original portraits and furniture, followed by a reception.

Longview is located at 1910 Highway 158, Garysburg.

Tickets are $10 per person and are available via Eventbrite.

The event is sponsored by Friends of Historic Halifax and the Historical Halifax Restoration Association.
