Retired Roanoke Rapids High school teacher and softball coach Carllen Goodwin sent Lady Jackets assistant softball coach Lynn Little to the High school for a good reason today, he came to present one student an award in Goodwin's name. Coach Goodwin had obligations and could not make the trip from Rocky Mount

Roanoke Rapids senior Brooke McClenny was surprised today at school by coach Little and was presented the 3rd annual "Coach Carleen Goodwin Scholarship

"It's great and I'm honored to have received this award. Coach Goodwin was my first softball coach at the high school and even though I only had her for a year before she retired, I'm grateful for that, stated McClenny.

"Miss Goodwin is a great person as well as coach. She is extremely caring and has been very supportive and I appreciate everything she has done," McClenny added.
