EC Cats based out of Greenville takes over Myrtle Beach and earn top wins!!
Cheer teams came from all over NC, SC, and VA to take on the All Star Challenge “Lonestar Roundup” in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and EC Cats with several Roanoke Valley cheerleaders took the mat determined to win!
The teams participated in a two-day cheer national competition for the last time this season, having already competed in 4 other national championship competitions throughout the season. Competing in National Championship Competitions pushes teams to perform at a higher level with many competitors from gyms all over states and they must be able to prove themselves two days in a row, which is a challenge.
The EC Cats Level 5 Restricted Coed team called the “Jags” with local cheerleaders Jalen Pearson and Toni Darden were the first of many wins for the EC Cats this weekend. The Jags competed strong both days and won Grand Champion of all level 5 teams. The Jags will be competing at The Summit in Orlando April 29th – May 1st having earned their bid early on in the season.
Local cheerleaders Mallaury Pageau, Toni Darden, and Jalen Pearson are all on the EC Cats level 3 Coed Team “Fierce Cats”. This team had a great performance day one setting them apart from their competitors early on by 4 points. Day 2 was another strong performance and their Fierce attitude and determination earned them 1st place in their division and also earning a bid to The Summit, a national cheerleading competition that is invitation only held at Disney late April. Only the top 10% of the cheer teams across the world are invited to compete in this amazing event which is aired on ESPN. This team has won 4 National Titles this season and one state title and has hit zero deductions all but one competition, which is very impressive.
Local Cheerleader Emily Clay, team member of the EC Cats Level 2 Junior Small Team named the “Lions” had the most amazing weekend coming home with her first National Title this season. Emily Clay and the EC Cats Lions team also won a bid to The Summit in Orlando as well!! This team has overcome many struggles throughout the season and has grown by leaps and bounds.
There is no better way to end a season then to win a nation title. Out of the 100 or so teams participating in the Lonestar Roundup in Myrtle Beach this past weekend they gave out only 2 bids to The Summit in Orlando and both teams earning bids came from the EC Cats gym out of Greenville NC!!! To earn a bid to The Summit you must win your individual division and be the highest scoring team in that entire division as well. Both the Lion and The Fierce Cats earned At Large bids allowing them to skip past the Wild Card division.
Congratulations to all of the EC Cat teams that will be traveling to Orland later this month.
