The Roanoke Rapids Warriors travel basketball team traveled to Durham this past weekend to participate in the NC Wildcats "Working Together Makes us Better" classic.

With victories of 44-43, 47-42, 55-44 and 45-28 the team finished 4-0 and were crowned champs of the 8th grade division. "I was extremely impressed with the performance of our boys today. It was amazing to watch their performance grow from game to game. They are buying in to a team approach to playing and really have sold themselves on playing aggressive defense. Watching them beat a team today that was much bigger, stronger and faster than we were and had beaten us by more than 20 during the 2015 season was an amazing and proud moment. The chemistry that these young have developed is amazing and I am looking forward to even greater things for them," stated head coach Troy McNair.

Scoring for the entire day was as follows: Traveous Garner 37 points, Danyus Daniels 36 points, Tylek Smallwood 32 points, Maleek Boone 23 points, Micah Porch 21 points, Teven Vincent 17 points, Cadrilyus Squire 12 points, Ethan Vincent 6 points, Jaqwan Carter 4 points, Nykim Stevens 3 points.

The Warriors will travel to Winston Salem on Saturday April 30th for their next tournament.
