The Roanoke Rapids Varsity Yellow Jackets baseball team defeated Franklinton on the road Thursday night by a score of 2-1. 

Colby Warren started on the mound and pitched 4 shutout innings.  Josh Elias earned the win in relief by pitching the final 3 innings. 

The Yellow Jackets only had 3 hits on the night. All 3 were triples by Cameron Rogerson, Colby Warren, and Logan Jackson.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, Marcus Allen walked and scored on Warren' s triple.  RRHS  scored the winning run in the top of the seventh when Nick Horvath was hit by a pitch and scored on Jackson's triple.

Post game comments from head coach Mark Snead, "This was a gutsy win from our team. We hit the ball hard a few times but it was right at them. We just couldn't get the hits to fall.  But we never gave up and kept grinding it out. I am really pleased with our pitching and defense. Colby and Josh only gave up two hits to them and our defense played excellent behind those two."

The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-2 on the season overall and 5-0 in the 2A Northern Carolina Conference. 

RRHS will now travel to Ayden-Grifton on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday for the Ray Avery Easter Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will face Pamlico County on Saturday at 4:30pm.
