The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Yellow Jackets baseball team picked up their first victory of the season with an 11-0 road win at Hertford County over the Bears on Thursday night.

Nick Horvath picked up the win on the mound by pitching four shutout innings while striking out nine batters. Josh Elias closed out the game with one scoreless inning while striking out two batters. 

The Yellow Jackets had a total team effort on offense with eight different batters recording hits during the game. 

"This was a strong bounce back performance after last night's tough loss. The guys really responded to the things we talked about in what we wanted to improve on. Everyone played well and it showed in the result. We really came to play as a team tonight." said Coach Mark Snead

With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 1-1 on the season. The next game for the Yellow Jackets will be on Wednesday March 9th when they host Northern Nash.  Game time is set for 5 pm.
