With Monday February 15th scheduled to be the official opening day for High school Spring sports practice, but Mother Nature had other plans.
Inclement weather Monday closed most schools in the area so no try-outs could take place under NCHSAA rules. Tuesday's out weather conditions didn't help matters along with High school basketball still in post season play.
Roanoke Rapids softball did start try-outs Tuesday, but had to move indoors to the Armory and still several players absent do to the girls basketball team still in action. "It was a good first day and I was impressed with the turnout," stated RRHS head coach Steve Milligan.
Halifax Academy head softball coach Steve Hamill state3d, "We are starting Wednesday afternoon due to the weather and a few girls are still playing basketball in the state play-offs."
KIPP Pride head coach stated, "We are starting next Monday also due to the weather and basketball still in play."
