The Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association U11 All-stars earn an invite to ENC Cal Ripken State Tournament.

The Roanoke Rapids 11u All-Stars began Friday in the losers bracket after the heartbreaking loss to Southern Pitt on Thursday night.  The team faced off against S. Edgecombe and saw the 11u team bounce back with a commanding win, defeating the S. Edgecombe team 8-3.

The bats stayed hot for the 11u All-Stars with the team pounding 7 hits.  Chase Nelson and AJ Strickland led the way with each of them going 2 for 2 and each garnering a walk as well.  Drew Williams, Russell Moore, and Parker Bristow each had a hit and Nelson, Strickland, Williams, Moore, Coleman Neal and Wade Jenkins all scored.

As hot as the bats were the pitching was even hotter with Strickland and Williams combining on the mound for a 1 hitter.  Strickland dealt 9 strike outs and Williams added 3 more.

With the win the 11u team played a double header facing New Bern.  Unfortunately for the RR All-Stars the hot bats cooled off and they lost to New Bern 10-1.  Austin Geary and Wade Jenkins got the only hits for the team with Geary scoring the lone run.  AJ Strickland, Russell Moore, and Drew Williams all pitched for the All-Stars.

Although the the U11 All-Stars lost out on Friday they did still qualify for States and will begin preparation for that tournament which begins July 9th.
