The Grasshoppers, sponsored by Lisa Christenbury Heating & Cooling, beat the Sandgnats, sponsored by Don Poncho, on Wednesday night at King Field.

The Grasshoppers, visiting team, scored three runs in the top of the 1st with a single from Hunter Sparks and a single and earned run from Gavin Hux.  Carter Hatcher, pitcher for the Sandgnats, stopped the Grasshoppers by throwing out a batter-runner at first base and throwing out a runner at home plate.  The Sandgnats put out another runner attempting to steal home for the final out.

Hunter Hardy lead off with a single and scored the first run for the Sandgnats in the bottom of the 1st.  The defense was a team effort by the Grasshoppers with a hustle in left field by Jamauri Watson to hold a batter-runner at first base, shortstop Hunter Sparks throwing out a batter-runner to first baseman Eli Mason and a strikeout by pitcher Wesley Boerner.

Eli Mason started the batting in the top of the 2nd for the Grasshoppers with a double.  Carter Hatcher held the Grasshoppers to one run by striking out three of six batters.

Wesley Boerner held the Sandgnats in the bottom of the 2nd by striking out three of five batters.

Hunter Hardy, pitcher for the Sandgnats, struck out one batter and threw out a batter-runner to first baseman Dawson Stroud.  Caleb Slaughter, catcher, tagged a runner attempting to steal home for the third out in the top of the 3rd.

The Sandgnats came out swinging in the bottom of the 3rd with a single from Thomas Lynch and Caleb Slaughter and a triple with two earned runs from Carter Hatcher.  The Grasshoppers held the Sandgnats to two runs with a tag out by second baseman Andrew Vincent and two strikeouts by Wesley Boerner.

The Grasshoppers scored four runs in the top of the 4th with a single by Hunter Sparks and a home run with 2 earned runs from Eli Mason.  Hunter Hardy stopped the Grasshoppers with three strikeouts.

The Sandgnats started the bottom of the 4th with a single from Ashraf Qasem.  Wesley Boerner held the Sandgnats by striking out three of five batters.

Wesley Boerner drove in two runs in the top of the 5th to secure the 10-3 win for the Grasshoppers.
