Chaloner Middle girls softball advance two rounds Friday in Halifax Academy's Easter tournament to head to the Championship game Saturday
Chaloner opened the tournament off beating NECP 18-1 in 4 innings. Cassidy Dickens pitched all four innings striking out 3 batters, allowed only one run and had a diving catch at the mound in game one & a another diving catch at short-stop in game two.
In game two of the day Chaloner faced Southampton Academy. Abbi Carpenter pitched a full seven innings with 10 strike-outs with the shutout and great defense behind her earning 7-0 win.
Top hitters for the day were Abbi Carpenter, Cassidy Dickens, Lizzy Colston, Kelsey Bierbauer, Haley Martin, Hannah Taylor and Ella King.
Head coach Jen Ott stated, " I am very proud of my girls today and how they pulled togetheras a team. This team is not built around one star player, but several girls who push hard & never give up on each other."
"I can't wait to see what they do at noon for the Championship. It's so great to see my girls show what the are made of in tough played games by both teams today. I could not be prouder, Ott added.
Southampton played NECP in game three of the night, coming away with the win 12-0 to advance for the rematch against Chaloner in the Championship game Saturday at Noon.
