Both local high school basketball conferences are waiting on NCHSAA ruling

With the weather conditions closing all school systems Monday, Tuesday and now Wednesday, all after school activities were canceled as well. That meaning no conference basketball playoff games that were scheduled for those three days were played. The NCHSAA has all tournaments have to be finished by Friday night so that they (NCHSAA) can meet Saturday February 21st and set the NCHSAA State Play-off brackets. And state play-off games to begin Tuesday February 24th. The NCHSAA informed media outlets Tuesday that they (NCHSAA) has not changed any dates due to the weather as of yet and they will inform schools and media Wednesday by Noon if any extensions are made. There are still so many options the conferences have and most will wait for NCHSAA decision.

If no extensions are the TRAC conference is looking at proceeding with just the top four teams in girls and boys tournament and dropping the JV tournament, while one option for the NCC is for the girls to play at one school Thursday while the boys play at one and semi and finials Friday.

The last option is to make a call to cancel the conference tournament all together. This would take your conference seeding into State seeding. Several 3A conferences in the Wake County area have already canceled. This option takes away the kids and coaches option to play well in the conference to advance to the state play-offs.

As of February 18th, both TRAC and NCC have canceled their conference tournaments due to the weather and the NCHSAA not using the tournament games for State Play-off seedings.
