Description: A Deputy Sheriff is responsible for the general law enforcement work required by the Sheriff's Office. Description: The Detention Officer I is responsible for the supervision, transportation, and security of inmates housed within the Halifax County Detention Facility. Work involves admitting and booking inmates, preparing inmates for transport and court or medical facilities, feeding inmates, and supervising all other activities by inmates. Work also involves preparing computerized reports and logs, periodic searches, maintaining security, and counseling and advising inmates as needed.
