It is the responsibility of this individual to assure that the workers in the unit fulfill all local, state, and federal mandates and provide the services necessary to protect the children assigned. The knowledge of federal, state and county funding requirements is also imperative for this position. This position will be responsible for on-call duties, to include screening child protective services intake reports and providing support to the oncall social workers. 

Requirements: Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; OR a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include possession of a driver’s license valid in the state of N.C. Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Halifax County Emergency Operations Plan, Halifax County Social Services staff are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter, or Emergency Operations Center.

Description: This position provides case management for Medicaid children, ages birth through 5, who meet certain risk criteria for enrollment in the Care Coordination for at Risk Children (CMARC) Program. The main goals of CMARC are to improve health outcomes and reduce Medicaid costs for enrolled children. The case manager works with families to identify and access community resources to meet their needs and encourages and supports families in the development of skills needed for effective problem solving, making decisions, and enhancing the capacity of families to meet the special needs of their children.
