County budget passes on 4-2 vote

Commissioners Carolyn Johnson and Marcelle Smith rejected the 2016-17 Halifax County fiscal year budget today.

The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District will go its own way in sharing sales and use tax revenues with the county school system after reaching an impasse with Weldon.

Few details are immediately forthcoming following the shooting deaths of two people in the Pendleton area Saturday night.
