Hedgepeth dies in prison custody

Rowland A. "Nook" Hedgepeth, a Halifax County death row inmate, died this afternoon of natural causes, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has been activated by the North Carolina Sheriff's Association and deployed to assist Sheriff Asa Buck and the Carteret County Sheriff's Office.

Tripp services changed

Funeral services for Carton Ray Tripp Jr. will be held Tuesday, September  18, 2018 at 11 am at  Good Sameritan Baptist Church.
