Tyndall show to help firefighter in lymphoma battle

As the Roanoke Rapids Theatre continues booking acts for its fall entertainment series, one show has been selected to help a Roanoke Rapids firefighter battling a rare form of lymphoma.

As the attached video shows, Miss Willie the dog was kept chained outside in Halifax County for 12 years and the only bright spot in her life was when PETA's fieldworkers paid her a visit which they did whenever they could.

Rocky Mount man dies in I-95 crash

A Rocky Mount man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95.

The city has been awarded a $200,000 North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant which with funds received from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and local matching funds will mean $400,000 allocated for improvements at Chaloner Recreation Center.

A validated write-in candidate is running for a seat on the Halifax County Board of Commissioners in November.
