Board approves DSS, Enfield middle refinancing

Halifax County commissioners today approved the refinancing of the department of social services building and Enfield Middle School, going with a bank proposal which offered a 2.35 percent interest rate.

Roanoke Rapids High School held a homecoming parade on Hamilton Street this afternoon.

Captain A.M. Harris of the City County Drug Task Force and Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith expect more joint efforts after raids in the Pleasant Hill and Gaston areas resulted in drug charges and the seizure of more than $40,000 earlier this month.

They are reconnecting with an iconic video game from their past. Only this time it’s bringing them outside.

Complaints lead to morning bust in Enfield

Citizen complaints of drug activity in the Nash Street area of Enfield led to a search warrant execution this morning and the arrest of a 30-year-old man on marijuana counts.

Roanoke Rapids police Thursday arrested a boy wanted by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office in an armed robbery and assault which occurred on April 5.

An Enfield store clerk who reportedly beat a customer with brass knuckles was charged Saturday by the town's police department.

Task force makes early morning raids

The City County Drug Task Force executed search warrants early this morning in two separate raids.

A collaborative effort between Main Street Roanoke Rapids and the Halifax County Arts Council Thursday will give people a chance to see the creative side of the Roanoke Valley through art, photos and music.

Local speakers weigh in on redistricting issue

Speakers at Halifax Community College today gave state legislators their views on how to proceed with the reshaping of the First and Twelfth Congressional District lines after a panel of federal court judges earlier this month declared them unconstitutional.
