Roanoke Rapids Planning and Development Director Kelly Lasky said Thursday construction of Rooney Ridge residential apartments is expected to start within a month or so.
The building permit was issued late last month and developers delivered a $17,200 check to the city for the permit fee, according to a copy of the document. Total project cost, according to the permit is $3,440,000.
The permit fee is based on a fee schedule of $5 per $1,000 of construction value, Lasky said in an August letter to Woda Cooper Companies.
The complex will be a three-story apartment building of wood and brick construction. The total area is 56,727 square feet and area per floor square footage is 18,909.
City council approved the rezoning request which paved the way for the complex in February of 2017.
