Weldon Manik Jackson, 50, of the 1000 block of Elm Street, resisted deputies of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 11 a.m., according to Captain A.M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Agent C.A. Parker and Harris responded to the residence after a call from state Probation and Parole informing deputies Jackson may have been at the residence and had outstanding felony drug warrants.
Harris and Parker arrived at the residence and identified John Ausby and Ronnie Washington both of Weldon at the back of the property.
Deputies noticed marijuana and drug paraphernalia on a table.
A man identified as Jackson came from inside the residence.
Jackson was being informed about the warrants and ran from deputies.
After a short foot chase, Jackson was arrested on Tenth Street near Elm Street.
Parker cited Ronnie Washington, 35, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possessing marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He received an October 17 court date.
Jackson had outstanding warrants which were obtained by Corporal Andy Cash for possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia from an August 5 matter.
Jackson was served with the warrants and an additional warrant for resisting a public officer.
He received a September 19 court date.
Parker obtained a warrant for the arrest of John Ausby, 41, for resisting a public officer. Deputies encourage Ausby to surrender to law enforcement.
Meanwhile, on Friday approximately 3:45 am, Sergeant C. Emerson Carroll and Deputy Isaiah Smith stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95 near the 153 mile post for suspected impaired driving.
After talking with the driver and passenger, Carroll searched the vehicle in which approximately 10 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located.
Brandon R. Bodden, 27, of East Providence, Rhode Island, was issued a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bodden received an October 5 court date.
