The indictment in the May 24 crime, in which blood samples collected at the victim’s Raleigh Street home and Carter’s Taylor Street home helped lead Roanoke Rapids police to file additional charges against him, was returned on June 25.
According to the indictments on file Carter was indicted for the following crimes:
First-degree forcible rape
First-degree burglary
Larceny after breaking and entering
This indictment stems from December 9, 2017, and a crime committed in the 300 block of Taylor Street in which the grand jury charges Carter ravished and carnally knew the victim by force and against her will after breaking and entering the victim’s dwelling at night when the victim was home.
The grand jury charges he broke and entered the house to commit a felony. The indictment charges he took money from the victim.

This indictment stems from May 15 and a crime committed in the 800 block of Jackson Street in which the grand jury charges the victim was contained, restrained and removed from one place to another without her consent for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a felony — rape — in which the victim was sexually assaulted.
The grand jury charges Carter ravished and carnally knew the victim by force and against her will.
Carter was charged with allegedly stealing money and a Samsung cell phone from the victim by means of force and violence.
The breaking and entering occurred while the victim was home with the intent commit a felony, the grand jury charged.

This indictment stems from an April 14 crime in the 300 block of Monroe Street in which the victim was assaulted and sustained serious injury when she was slapped in her face and a tooth was knocked out which required medical attention.
The victim, the grand jury charged, was kidnapped by containment and restraint and being removed from one place to another without her consent for the purpose of Carter allegedly committing forcible rape. The indictment notes the victim was sexually assaulted.
The grand jury charges first-degree burglary was committed when the victim was at home and that Carter allegedly attempted to ravish her and carnally know the victim by force and against her will.
Carter reportedly stole money “from the person and presence” of the victim by means of force and violence, “putting her in fear of bodily harm by threat of violence.”

This indictment stems from December 23 of last year at the home of May Raleigh Street victim when Carter reportedly attempted to break into her house while the victim was at home.
This crime, the grand jury charges, was done with intent to commit a felony.
Damage was done to the backdoor of the victim’s property.
