The city presented tweaks in its proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The changes come as city council plans to vote on the 2013-2014 financial plan at its regular meeting next week.

The final total of the budget doesn’t change because of the tweaks, City Manager Joseph Scherer said at this evening’s work session.

The total proposed budget still stands at $14,890,339. Income made off the property tax rate was increased by $88,000. Income from sales tax was increased by $15,000.

Funds in the amount of $52,000 originally intended for a new traffic were switched to buy two new pickups for the public works department.

The city removed a new knuckle boom truck from the plan, which would have been a $132,000 purchase.

Employees will get a 1 percent cost of living adjustment.

The number of police cars planned was reduced from seven to six but the police department will get 10 new in-car cameras instead of six, which will stock its fleet.

Police Chief Tommy Hathaway said following the work session he was able to get the 10 cameras instead of six by finding a vendor that offered the same style of equipment at a better price.

The police department will buy five new chargers and one sport utility vehicle.

Council is scheduled to vote on the plan at its meeting next week. The meeting will be held in the first floor conference room of city hall at 7 p.m.
