The Weldon Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating the theft of guns used by basic law enforcement training students at Halifax Community College.

The undisclosed amount of guns were stolen from an unnamed location on the college’s campus, Chief Mark Macon said.

The crime most likely occurred sometime between Friday night and Monday and forced entry was used to get the weapons.

Macon said it is too early in the investigation to determine whether a student may have stolen the guns.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
