The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Friday at approximately 4 p.m., investigators O.L. Wiltsie and G.L. Williams were checking on a trespassing call in the 900 block of Washington Street when they encountered two people.  Shyquon Dayvon Brown, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, gave officers a false name.

Investigators learned Brown had numerous outstanding warrants and was an absconder from state Probation and Parole.

He was arrested and charged with identity theft for giving a false name and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer by Wiltsie.

He was served outstanding warrants for assault on a female, assault by strangulation and damage to property and an order for arrest for probation violation.

He was jailed without opportunity for bond and has an April 4 court date.

The warrants for assault on female, assault by strangulation and damage to property were investigated by Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Deputy D. Moore.

On Sunday at approximately noon, Lieutenant J. Baggett went to an address in the 100 block of Lewis Street to locate a person on an outstanding warrant.

Baggett located Tyquan S. Moody, 23, in the backyard of the residence.

Moody attempted to run away but was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Moody was arrested on the outstanding warrant  for filing a false report and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.

He received a $4,000 bond and April 4 court date.
