Halifax man faces heroin counts

A Halifax man was arrested last week on heroin counts following a traffic stop, the county sheriff’s office reports.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement on February 22 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Corporal B. Council initiated a traffic stop in the Roanoke Rapids area for a motor vehicle violation.

King

Council, with the assistance of Jimi, a police dog, and her handler, Roanoke Rapids Officer H. Grimes, located two bindles of heroin on the passenger, Desmond Nyquan King, 23.

King was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, maintain a vehicle for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He has a court appearance set for Wednesday.
