Williams records 17th double-double

ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Kelly Williams (Garysburg, NC/ Halifax Academy) recorded her ODAC leading 17th double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds in the 59-55 loss to Guilford on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets trailed by seven at the half but were able to comeback in the second half and led late in the fourth quarter before the Quakers were able to close out the game.

R-MC (10-10, 5-7 ODAC) sit in eighth place in the ODAC while Guilford (17-3, 10-2 ODAC) remain in second.

The Yellow Jackets trailed 15-8 heading into the second period but would go on a 8-2 run after sophomore Kelsey Wisner (York, Pa./ Central York) hit a three followed by five points from Williams. R-MC went into the half trailing 25-18.

Guilford led 46-35 with 8:53 remaining in the game. Williams and freshman Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) then scored 14 points on a 14-2 run to take the lead at 49-48 with just over three minutes remaining. The Quakers were able to regain the lead late and secure the win.

Wisner finished the game with 12 points, two steals and an assist. Lee had nine points, two steals, two assists and three blocks in the game.

The Yellow Jackets shot 87.5 percent from the free throw line, going 14 of 16. Williams went 9 of 10 from the line.

Ross had an outstanding all around game, with six points, five blocks, three rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The game marked the 28th annual Back to the Hive game, where over 30 alumni from five decades of R-MC women's basketball returned to campus.

R-MC will be back in action on Tuesday as it travels to Va. Wesleyan. The Yellow Jackets will return to Crenshaw Gymnasium on Saturday, February 11 for an ODAC matchup against first place Lynchburg.
