An Enfield man with a lengthy criminal record was released on $40,000 secured bond Thursday after his arrest on weapons charges.

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement Corporal Phillip Moyer arrested and charged Jeffery Clark, 28, following a traffic stop after observing a vehicle being driven across the center line.
Moyer reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A handgun was located during the subsequent search.
Moyer, who was on patrol in the Enfield area, charged Clark with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon.
He has a January 18 court date.
